This journey starts during a busy period of travel, for work and fun (with my wife), in October 2019. Between October and mid-February 2020, we visited New York City, Upstate N.Y., while I went to Alaska and Japan for business. Heading to Japan, in late January, we heard stories about a cruise ship marooned in Tokyo Harbor due to a spreading virus and almost everyone wore masks — including us. After Japan, my wife and I made one more trip to Hudson N.Y. in February, and then things changed…
The company that sent me packing to Europe, Alaska, and Japan sent us home in March and promptly went into bankruptcy to save assets; our network build could not progress, globally. I’d been practicing yoga since 2005 and was now attending Zoom-based virtual yoga classes. I started using an indoor cycling trainer system I’d recently bought myself for Christmas and constantly looked around the house for things to photograph — the rugs, wall lights, chairs, etc.
Gradually, I started going outside for rides, coffee and pretzels on Lake Ann, and to find more photography subjects. At some point, I went a little overboard with the cycling (I haven’t stopped) and but always carried a camera, or a good iPhone on my rides.
This time also included losses and at least one postponed family burial. We eventually ventured out for a few car trips and would see more of our friends.
Exhibit Reception Saturday, March 23rd.
Exhibit Reception October 18th, from 5PM to 7PM.
I will be available to talk about these images, at the coffee shop, several Sunday afternoons and upon request.
Come visit my first solo photography show! The show has been extended, now ending the last weekend in September, 2018. I am displaying 26 Street Photography images.
Displayed images include 12x16 inches matted or framed and 18x24 inches framed. Other prints originally included in the show are still available online.
Many thanks to everyone who came to the opening reception on March 24, 2018, to celebrate the show with us! Also thanks to Mykle Lyons, Ahn, Kevin, and the Cafe Montmartre staff for creating a wonderful gallery environment.
Image awarded 2nd-Place.
